The story behind Ayoka
Philip and Sebastian – what began as a friendship is now the cornerstone of ayoka. At the age of 16, the two founders, Philip and Sebastian, came up with the idea for ayoka out of an interest in functional foods while at school.
Social security and quality of life are at their peak in our latitudes, yet more and more people are moving away from their dreams and passions and becoming unhappy. For the two of them, the question was therefore why.
Why do people squeeze themselves into a mould just to fit a social image, even if it makes them unhappy? The biological origin of happiness, or “good mood”, comes from our happiness hormones, mainly serotonin and dopamine.
In order to do justice to current social developments, a drink that boosts mood seemed almost perfect. With the drink, they want to start exactly where our happiness comes from, with the happiness hormones – with a Good Mood Drink.
But the brand stands for more than the hedonistic need to “feel good” and is not a conventional beverage brand. ayoka stands in contrast to the conformist social system that suppresses individualism and creativity and is intended to give people the courage to find themselves again. The courage to go one’s own way and to strive for perfection and satisfaction.
Because at the end of the day, everyone has the right to be happy. The name “ayoka” comes from the West African language “Yoruba” and is a girl’s name that translates as “the (person) who brings joy”.
The name appealed to the two of them so much because it sums up the product promise as well as the brand identity: namely, to spread good humour.
So it can definitely be said that ayoka brings joy.
