Nordwolle Rügen was launched
Since 2013, we at Nordwolle Rügen now produce high-quality outdoor clothing from the virgin wool of endangered land sheep breeds. One of these breeds is the graywool Pomeranian sheep.
The Pomeranian sheep is an endangered breed of livestock whose wool has been destroyed in the past partly because it can only be dyed to a limited extent. We at Nordwolle think that the natural color variety should be given by the different land sheep breeds and therefore do not dye at all. In addition, we find that it makes only limited sense to import wool expensive from New Zealand and destroy German raw materials, which are just as suitable for textile production.
Nordwolle Rügen would like to contribute to the preservation of the ancient land sheep breeds, some of which are kept on pasture all year round. In addition, we want to stand up to the monocultivation of the German livestock breed landscape, because the old land sheep get along, for example, without South American concentrated feed and make an indispensable contribution to biodiversity in the landscape management.
In doing so, we combine ancient raw materials with state-of-the-art manufacturing processes. In our new factory hall near Wismar, we are always developing new and innovative solutions to perfectly showcase the high-tech fiber from nature. We do this for products from our own production, but also for partners and business customers who rely on quality “made in Germany”.
